Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 15, 2026

Welcome to MyGradePilot ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the MyGradePilot mobile application (the "App").

Offline-First Design: MyGradePilot is built as an offline-first application. We believe your academic records are private and should remain under your absolute control at all times.

1. Overview of Offline-First Design

Unlike traditional apps that upload your data to remote cloud servers, MyGradePilot stores almost all of your academic information directly on your device.

  • No Account Registration: You do not need to create an account or provide an email address, name, or phone number to use the core features of MyGradePilot.
  • Local Sandbox Storage: Your data is isolated in a private database (Hive) inside the App's secure local sandbox.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Academic Data (Locally Stored)

We process the following academic information, which is stored exclusively on your local device:

  • Semesters: Semester names, start/end dates, and archive statuses.
  • Courses / Subjects: Subject names, codes, credit values, and subject types.
  • Academic Marks: Exam names, marks obtained, and maximum available marks.
  • GPA Targets: Your academic targets, SGPA/CGPA goals, and estimated progress.

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third parties.

B. Third-Party Integrations (Network Transmitted)

To support development and provide advanced features, MyGradePilot integrates two third-party SDKs provided by Google. These services may collect information directly from your device:

I. Google AdMob (Advertising)

For free-tier users, MyGradePilot shows advertisements served by Google AdMob. To deliver and personalize ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • Device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID, Android ID).
  • IP address (used to infer approximate location).
  • User interactions with ads (clicks, views).
  • Diagnostic data (crash logs, app performance).

You can opt out of personalized ads in your Android device settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of personalized ads) or purchase a MyGradePilot Pro membership to block all advertisements and disable the AdMob SDK entirely.

II. Google Play Billing (In-App Purchases)

If you choose to purchase MyGradePilot Pro, the transaction is processed securely through Google Play Billing. Google Play collects:

  • Payment credentials and billing information (processed entirely by Google).
  • Purchase receipt validation tokens.
  • Entitlement states (confirming your Pro status).

MyGradePilot does not see, collect, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or financial passwords.

3. Data Backups & PDF Exports

  • Local Backup File (JSON): If you are a Pro user, you can choose to export your local data as a JSON file using the system file picker. This file is saved directly to your device's local storage (e.g., your Downloads folder) under your control. We do not transmit or store these backup files.
  • Academic Transcripts (PDF): You can generate semester reports and transcripts as PDF documents. These files are rendered dynamically on-device and shared via the system's native Share Sheet. We do not store or upload these PDFs.

4. Future Cloud Sync (Upcoming Feature)

In future releases, we may introduce an opt-in Pro Cloud Sync feature to allow backup synchronization across devices.

  • This feature will be completely voluntary.
  • Your local database will be encrypted and synchronized to secure cloud hosting.
  • If you do not enable this feature, your data will remain 100% offline.

5. Data Deletion and Control

You retain absolute ownership and control of your academic data:

  • Instant Local Wipe: You can delete all local semester, subject, marks, and goal records permanently at any time by navigating to Settings → Reset All Data. Wiping the local box deletes the data forever.
  • Third-Party Data: To request deletion of data collected by Google AdMob or Google Play Billing, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Permissions Used by the App

MyGradePilot declares only the minimum necessary permissions on Android:

  • android.permission.INTERNET: Required to communicate with Google Play Billing for purchases and fetch ads from Google AdMob.
  • android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to monitor connection status and handle offline states gracefully.

We do not request access to your contacts, camera, photos, location, or microphone.
